What is Air Cadets?
The Royal Canadian Air Cadets (RCAC) is a national youth organization sponsored by the Canadian Armed Forces and the civilian Air Cadet League of Canada. Its primary aim is to develop in youth the qualities of leadership, citizenship, and physical fitness through various year-round activities.
Established in 1941, the Air Cadets program has a rich history of providing Canadian youth aged 12 to 18 with unique opportunities for personal growth and development. Cadets participate in a wide range of activities, including aviation education, drill and ceremonial training, leadership workshops, and community service projects. One of the key highlights of the Air Cadets program is its emphasis on aviation-related activities. Cadets have the opportunity to learn about aviation theory, aircraft maintenance, and even experience flight training through gliding and powered flying scholarships. The RCAC operates through a network of over 450 squadrons across Canada, each supported by dedicated staff officers, civilian instructors, and volunteers. Through their involvement in the Air Cadets, young Canadians develop confidence, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility, preparing them for future success in both civilian and military life. |
